"The purposes of the [CHJCC] are: to deal with matters of local or international concern to the Jewish community of Crown Heights and to be instrumental in effecting cooperation among the various Jewish organizations of such community; and more specifically:
- To act as a coordinating body to foster joint and cooperative action for charitable, cultural and educational programs among the Jewish communal organizations in the area;
- To protect and strengthen the rights and interests of the Crown Heights Jewish community;
- To represent and speak for the Crown Heights Jewish community;
- To analyze and assess Jewish communal needs and advocate for new services;
- To combat anti-Semitism and every other form of racism or group prejudice;
- To promote equality of opportunity and full civil rights and civil liberties for all religious, racial and ethnic groups;
- To encourage amicable relationships and mutual understanding and respect among the various ethnic groups;
- To aid and assist all people in the Crown Heights, Bedford Stuyvesant communities who are in need, regardless of race, color, or creed;
- To promote the recruiting and training of day care providers and serve as a child care resource for the community; and
- To do any other act or thing incidental or connected with the foregoing purposes or in advancement thereof."
