The Career Center at the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council offers a wide range of employment and career related services to members of the Crown Heights community, including:

  • Links to Training and Education
  • Computer Courses

The Career Center is your 'one stop shop' for everything career and employment related. We have a number of programs catering to specific individuals in the community, including those recently made unemployed due to the economic downturn and those looking for employment for the first time. Many of these programs offer additional services such as career path guidance, psychological, legal and financial assistance, as well as many programs provide a significant amount towards education and training.

Crown Heights Career Assistance Program (CH CAP)
The CH CAP program is a career advice and assistance program offered in partnership with FEGS and UJA, specifically focused on helping members of the Crown Heights community, particularly those who have finished kollel, yeshivah or seminary and are looking for work. The CH CAP provides assistance with education and interest assessment, specialized career path advice, training, job readiness and job placement services. The CAP program offers clients 2/3 or up to $5000 towards the tuition costs, enabling many community members to train in their preferred field without incurring significant financial strain.

Connect to Care
Connect to Care is a program run in partnership with the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty and UJA, aimed at helping those who have recently lost their jobs due to the current economic downturn. Connect to Care provides clients with financial, psychological, legal and any other assistance needed to get through these tough times. Connect to Care focuses on enabling clients to manage their situations and helps them find new jobs or careers.

Project Care offers clients resume assistance as well as job matching. Whether you need help creating or updating your resume, finding a job, or preparing for an interview, the staff at Project Care are here to help.

We will discuss steps to take to identify what career you are best suited for, strategies to market yourself for a particular job, and provide guidelines for networking, resume writing, preparing for interviews and negotiating your compensation package.

In this workshop we will go over a variety of resume types as well as how your resume may vary depending on your level of experience, if you are a career changer or if you are applying for jobs in a variety of disciplines. We will discuss practical ways to make your skills and experience stand out on paper, and look at strategies to make your resume demonstrate that you are the ideal candidate for the job!
